Cargo Release Issues Explored by CBFANC, CBP and CarriersChris Ramos, Airport and Customs Chairman
- CBP is seeing a trend in imported goods that are migrating from Sea to Air shipments, which translates to more split shipments and AMS mismatch. They have requested the carriers to properly document split info in AMS, and advise brokers to contact the carriers first - before calling CBP for any discrepancies.
- In-bond arrival: Carriers and CFS-CES warehouses are responsible for arriving I.T. information via ACE. The Broker will not get a release until the I.T. is properly arrived into the ACE system. For any issues regarding a mismatch of I.T. info in the clearance process – checking with the Carriers & CFS-CES warehouses is the first point of contact.
- SFO/DAU: A reminder to please not call SFO/DAU for any Drawback related questions (including liquidation dates).
- Hand-carry – Please contact DAU the day before arrival for any hand-carry shipments arriving between 0600 – 0800 hrs so they can internally coordinate adequate coverage.
