CBFANC-Avalon Scholarship Winner Reports On WESCCON 2021

Lori Azzopardi, CBFANC Board, EFI Logistics

Thursday Night while trying to find my way to the Opening Reception, I came across four fabulous ladies that were having a fun time chatting away.  I had my WESCCON lanyard on and they noticed I was a 1st timer.  They started talking to me and lead me where I needed to go.  To my surprise, they were with Price Transfer.  The funny thing was three days before WESCCON started, I had a situation with Price Transfer and planned on visiting their booth Friday.  I explained to the ladies, that Price Transfer was on my list to visit due to a recent incident.  When I told them what had happen, they laughed and said “we get it”.  One of them handed me a card and said in the future if I had any issues, to let her know and she would work with me to resolve future misunderstandings.  I could not have asked for a better ending to the Price Transfer mishap than meeting Michalle and the other ladies, who can help me in the future if I needed.  She also provided me some useful information for future exams.
I met with PCC Logistics too and learned of a new service of cold storage. Leo and Estella at PCC Logistics discussed their current process and challenges and will be able to assist one of my customers that needs cold storage assistance.

Friday evening, while walking to the State Fair Themed Dinner, I met two super nice ladies.  They noticed my 1st timer ribbon too and started talking with me.  When we got to introductions, I was surprised to meet Coley with Registrar Corp.  I explained to her that just earlier in the day, I had received an email from one of my favorite customers (Melissa) asking if I could help one of her new suppliers with FDA registration.  I had responded I was out of the office but there was a company, Registrar Corp., which I would google on Monday when I return and give her their contact number.  Friday Night when I returned to my room, I emailed Melissa and introduced her to Coley, who I explained would be happy to help her client.  Melissa responded the following day thanking me for the quick response and introduction.   I was able to assist my customer timely, my customer was able to respond to their new vendor timely and Registrar Corp. got a new client. This was a win, win, win situation.
In closing, my 1st WESCCON experience was better than expected.  The event was very well organized.  The panel speakers provided honest and solid information. The attendee participates made a 1st timer feel welcome as if I had been there before.  The business contacts I made will better serve my employer, my customers and me. The information I received such as ACE Portal will allow me to run reports for my customers.  I will be attending the ACE Portal overview sessions starting this Thursday. The information from the PGA program specially the Organic Program gave me information to help my customers with the new requirement that is looking to start next year.  The FMC Panel the Ocean Shipping Panel gave me information to share with my customers and co-workers.  I look forward the clarity they will be providing and the assistance with demurrage and detention. The contacts made with Registrar Corp, Price Transfer and PCC Logistics will help my customers with their FDA registration needs and well as their CET/AG exams in the future.
I look forward to attending next year and have already told one of my old coworkers she should look into going too.  WESCCON was a great experience.
