Customs & Border Protection Telephone Lines
There are no additional phone lines, other than the ones on the information notice (510-271-8907 and 8922), to include on your blast to your members.  If your members call and do not get an answer, please have them leave a voicemail.  Officers and Ag Specialists will regularly check the voicemails and someone will respond during the day.  Since the lines are a single extension, they may be better served by sending their inquiries to the email inboxes for the sections they have questions for.

Important News Regarding Oakland CES

Evey Hwang

Important News
By Evey Hwang / CBFANC Ocean Committee

Port of Oakland CES Situation:  Per Info Notice 728-19-06 dated April 26, 2019, SFO Customs notified all CES exams are to be conducted at PCC Logistics.  As noted on the notice, CBP contact numbers are:
            ATU: 510-271-8900 ext. 2006, or option #7
            Trade: 510-318-7020, option #1
            CBP Agriculture: 510-271-8907

On April 26th, CBFANC Customs and Ocean Committee met with PCC Logistics for coordinating info and to refresh contact details.   As with last July when PCC became secondary CES, we appreciate PCC’s continued commitment to accommodate CES services.  In the past, CBFANC expressed community concerns about turnaround times and billing.  Especially now that they will be handling the additional volume, we have tasked PCC to further streamline and continue to improve their processes:

  • Exam times: PCC will be working with Customs to support extended operation hours especially during the transition.  CBP are also committed to multiple seal checks daily.
  • Contact list:  PCC welcomed our suggestion to provide additional contact emails to streamline communications.  We are pleased to include below. Additional contact information will be sent as a special email to all CBFANC members.
  • Truck D.O. Assignment:  Aside from drayage for CES exam, PCC will necessarily require a delivery order for Trade or CBP Agriculture exams.
  • Freight release/payments:  PCC takes PayCargo and credit card.  Check copy with overnight bill option may be requested.  With the additional contacts, PCC is committed to expediting freight release.

During this transition period, we ask for the community understanding and consideration for the additional volume undertaken by PCC Logistics.   CBFANC welcomes your feedback and will continue to provide support to successful CES operations at the Port of Oakland.   Below find information on PCC Logistics CES exam site.  Additional updates will be forthcoming.

CBFANC President Chris Ramos led the CBFANC delegation to the PCC Mission in DC, where our fellow brokers and forwarders met with top leadership of CBP, FDA, the FMC and others.  Also, our delegation spent an entire day making calls on The Hill and speaking with our members of Congress, conveying our concerns about the critical issues facing our industry.

Over 40 members of the 5 local associations of the PCC - Pacific Coast Council of Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders attended the Mission this year.

Be sure to read the reports submitted by Brenda Custer-Espeleta, Raymond Hong, and Sun Wook Lee.  These reports provide an insider's view of the extremely busy days the CBFANC delegation had during this year's PCC Mission to DC.
